Winter is here! With short, cold days, and the fear of new influenza strains. Many of us struggle with sickness and lack of energy during this daunting season. Here is an easy (and delicious!) recipe for a very green smoothie that is guaranteed to boost your energy and immune system.
- 1 cucumber, chopped
- 3 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 lemon
- 1 apple, seeded, cored, and chopped
- 1 pear, seeded, cored, and chopped
- 1 handful of spinach
- ½ handful kale
- 1 handful of fresh parsley
- 5 mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon spirulina
- 1 inch ginger peeled
- 1 cup water
- (optional) 2 teaspoons of chia seeds
- (optional) sprinkle cayenne pepper
Place all into a blender or food processor until smooth. If pulp is not desired, run the drink through a mesh strainer before serving, or use a juicer. As an added bonus, this drink acts as an amazing detox and body cleanser! No need to wait until winter to make this. Enjoy!
